Have you asked yourself why you keep on applying for jobs online and you keep on getting rejection letter on your emails. There is a simply explaination why you keep on getting rejection letters. Due to the high amount of applicants recruiters get when they put out a job advert, they have develop a robot called Applicants Tracking Systems to help them reduce the number of applicants to a small manageable number.

The ATS robot perform this applicants reduction task by comparing your CV to the job description of the role you are applying for. The ATS robot will then give you a score out of 100%, 100% meaning complete match of the job description and 0% meaning not compatible to the job description. On average, your CV needs to score 75% or above for your CV to be passed to the next phase of being reviewed by the HR Personnel. All CVs that score less than 75% will be rejected and associated applicants automatically sent rejection letters.

In this blog we will attach a tool that will help you scan your CV to check the score you get in comparison to the job description of the job role you aiming to apply for.

Scan your CV to check if you will pass to the next stage of interview invitation

Follow the following steps to scan your CV:

  • Click here to sign up for Jobscan account
  • Once you signed up, you will have 15 free scans on the free version account, use them wisely
  • Click on the dashboard, you will see a button “START YOUR FIRST SCAN”, then click on it
  • Paste or upload your resume under step 1 on the Jobscan website
  • Next paste your job description under step 2
  • Click the “SCAN” button
  • If your CV scores 75% or more then your CV will pass the ATS robot
  • if your CV scores less than 75%, go through the job description of the role and update your CV to match the job description.

The job description keywords can be incorparated under the “Career Profile”, “Key Skills” and lastly under previous employer job description.

WARNING: Ensure that your CV is readable, you must be able to highlight text and copy text from your CV. The ATS robot need to be able to read your CV, if it is not readable it will score your CV 0%.

Note: Do not copy the job description as it is paraphrase it to ensure there is no plagiarism to avoid being disqualified by either the robot or HR personnel. Remember this is not the last stage of the recruitment process, ensure your CV is well written to impress even the HR after passing the ATS.
